A new year, a new me
I love the 1920s.
I love old travel posters, old stories, things set in, or from, another time.
As a child I read and reread all sorts of books, but they were almost always set between the 1920s and the 1950s. I started with Milly Molly Mandy and A.A. Milne. I then discovered the delights of A.A Milne's playful poetry, and Enid Blyton. Later, I graduated onto Agatha Christie and P.G. Wodehouse.
For a while now I've been trying to work out how to combine my love of children's illustration with my obsession with the twenties. In August last year my hubby treated me to a wonderful few days in London where we saw the art deco sights, and visited the London Transport Museum. What a feast! The poster collection (see a few gems here) kicked started a determination to draw together the threads of the things that I find just so inspiring.
And so I have begun drawing with a more twenties feel, a deco undertone, and a flipping great wardrobe!!
